Marlborough was awarded the masonry package for the supply and fix of brick, block and associated items to two proposed new buildings on the office park, Birchwood Point, in Autumn 2000.
Working in close partnership with other trades and Main Contractor HBG North West, Marlborough worked on Buildings 6 & 7 through the phenomenal flooding of late 2000 to an 18 week programme.
The two four-storey office blocks used Cambridge Red and Burwell White brick facings from Marshalls plus Cattybrook Farmhouse Mixture facings from Ibstock. Birchwood Point is an extensive and well-established office complex and the majority of buildings along Birchwood Boulevard are of the same or similar design and materials.
The design therefore, and specific use of bricks on the two new buildings, maintained the consistency of the park’s aesthetics. This creates an area of reassuringly high quality accommodation, with a noticeable identity and prestige, to attract new businesses.
